What is Kintsugi?

Kintsugi Japanese.png

Kintsugi is Japan's ancient art of celebrating broken pottery. It is rooted in an eastern philosophy of finding beauty in imperfections. Many believe it can help us to accept our flaws and foster a sense of peace and fulfillment.

Taught by qualified Kintsugi artist Nilo, who learnt Kintsugi art in Kyoto, Japan, you will undergo a transformative experience in healing as you mend your Kintsugi ceramic piece.

What Our Students Say

Testimonials from our students
My partner and I recently did the couples workshop at Kintsugi Art Studio and it certainly exceeded all expectations. Nilo was knowledgeable and experienced. She was patient with us and we had a fantastic afternoon with a beautiful new piece of art to show for it. If you're thinking of trying out kintsugi, I highly recommend this studio in Singapore!

Our first Kintsugi experience and it was great! Nilo is very patient and encouraged us to internalize and share our takeaways from the session, and that creates a very deep personal meaning for each participant. Highly recommend to check her out if you are considering a Kintsugi session!

Nilo, the lovely lady who started this studio, is very warm and generous . My daughter enjoyed her 11th Birthday Kintsugi session thoroughly and asked when is the next time we will return!

The Art of Healing With Kintsugi

Broken made Beautiful

01

Kintsugi is built on the idea that in embracing the broken pottery pieces’ flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art.

02

Using this art as a metaphor for healing ourselves teaches us an important lesson – that sometimes in the process of repairing ourselves through our flaws and imperfections, we create an even more beautiful stronger, resilient us. We may be BROKEN but no less BEAUTIFUL!

03

In an age of mass production and quick disposal, learning to accept and celebrate scars and flaws and to not throw away things that break is also a powerful lesson in sustainability.

04

Kintsugi Art Studio was born out of a passion to teach this sustainable and healing art to everyone.
