Service Description

Kumiko is a unique Japanese style of woodworking that involves interconnecting carved wooden pieces together in intricate patterns to create a finished panel without the use of glue, nails, or any other external tools. It originated in the 7th century to imitate the patterns of wowen baskets in wood. What this Kumiko session entails : 1. You will begin by learning the history and origins of kumiko, the fundamentals of kumiko woodworking, the materials and tools required, and the various techniques and patterns used in kumiko woodworking 2. You will then watch a demo of Kumiko assembling of the wooden pieces. 3. You will each get to interconnect 2 coasters (Asanaho & Uragoma) or 1 large Coaster (Uragoma)). 4. You will take back the Kumiko pieces in a special wooden box for endless fun and joy at home. Please note that photos and videos may be taken during your session for our promotional purposes on social media/ website and other platforms. If you would prefer not to be photographed or videoed, please let us know. Free flow of Japanese drinks and snacks.
